hey guys… this Kevin the founder chiming in. I can definitely see the value in having this feature. And agree it is a very pivotal one.

ApproveMe has been quietly working on adding this feature… however, it will likely be introduced in our first front-end PDF upload roll out which is still a couple months away.

I apologize for the delay but we have devoted 100% of our (NEW) development resources to building out this plugin into a Wordpress powered application which will be MUCH MORE powerful and customizable than just your “old wordpress” plugin.

Because of this… it’s taken a little longer to add these smaller features… but I assure you the new version will not disappoint :-) Thanks for the great feedback.

Still working on it... our 2.0 release has turned out to be a MAJOR MAJOR release that has resulted in completely rewriting the plugin from the ground up. So it's taken a little longer than expected... I have been told that we almost have the backend connected to the front-end which means we are looking on schedule for a release (hopefully) after the holidays.

Thanks Paul... we're working as fast as we can to get those features out. The team's making greta progress like I said we'll have a better idea of where we are with a delivery date (for beta testing) once they wrap up the first phase in a couple weeks...

Please stay in touch we'll likely be onboarding our current customers a handful at a time until it is ready to officially roll it out to all of our users.

Hope you have a fantastic summer in the meantime.

We'll still working how we're going to handle/position the pricing aspect for future customers and how to give value to our existing customers... off the top of my head it will include:

    - Conditional Logic
    - Customizable Email Templates
    - The entire user experience will live in our own gorgeous UX/UI (we'll no longer be using the WordPress dashboard... but it will still be on your site) The new UI was built/designed by the designer that designed one of the top 5 largest email marketing CRM's on the internet (we're not allowed to say which one).
    - PDF upload/drag and drop
    - Advanced esignature workflows
    - Conditional Logic for input fields
    - Import signers from csv
    - Initial Here field
    - Multiple signature/initial pads on a document
    - A publc API
    - Zapier Add-on
    - Document decline option
    - Document messages between signers and senders

These are all off the top of my head and not all of these will be rolled out all at once... but they are all the most pressing features and what the team is focusing on for the 2.0 release...

Hey Paul the new version is looking SO SO GOOD! It's very user friendly. I can hardly wait to share it with you guys. Our 2.0 team will be delivering the first phase (of a multi-phase roll out) end of the month. We will likely spend a couple weeks going back and forth with our QA team and make a decision if it will be ready for beta or if it will need to include the second phase in it for the beta release.... so we'll keep you posted. Feel free to follow up with me personally if you're interested in giving it a test drive in a couple months once it's beta ready. kevin at approveme.me

We have indeed been working on 2.0 for a while. We were initially planning on releasing it 100% as a fully WordPress ran application… and got very very close to doing so; however, similar to the PCI compliance industry (i.e. the industry that regulates accepting credit cards online) there’s been an uprising of laws and regulations in the document signing industry.

So while we are very close to having 2.0 release ready we’re in the process of having to re-architect the API and set it up to run a portion of the application in our cloud while still maintaining the overall customer experience so everything still feels seamless and like it’s all taking place on YOUR site. As such there's still some backend changes that we are quickly working to mitigate.

The good news is the team is continuing to develop the final screens that remained however, it will realistically take a little bit more time before the re-architecture of API and cloud backend is beta ready.

I apologize for the delay and understand how this affects your personal timeline… however, we really want to make sure that we can stay on top of the regulations and offer the most seamless (and compliant) integration for our customers.

Wilson I agree it's taken much longer than we anticipated to create this feature... part of that reason is we decided to rewrite the entire platform from the ground up with our own unique UI/UX and with a new framework that web based apps are moving towards.

The good news here is that we are getting very close to starting internal beta and will likely start inviting customers to try out private beta early 2017.

I apologize for the delay and assure you that it will absolutely be worth the wait :-)

Hi ETC. We're almost finished building out the first and second phase screens in the front-end and have our core team developing the internal API that connects the front-end with our pre-existing database. I don't have an exact eta but as soon as the API end-points are all connected to the front-end we will start internal testing and start preparing everything for a beta. With the holidays approaching my goal is to get it into beta before the holidays... but it really depends on how the next few weeks of develop goes. Sorry to keep you and your client waiting on this... we really want it to be incredible which is why it's taken so long.

Hey ETC... each day/week the team gets closer and closer to beta. It's looking like the dev team will be delivering the first phase (for internal testing) around the end of the month but we will likely need to include phase 2 before we open it up to private beta since phase 2 includes Stand Alone/Public docs... + settings screens... etc. The good news here is that with phase 1 behind us development will speed up 5x faster since the foundation is all there now it's literally just a matter of adding screens and modules.

We wanted to do things right so we could scale up the app to enterprise levels very quickly once it's released... which means it took longer to build out our phase 1 (I apologize for the delay but I assure you it will be worth the wait :-).

    Here's a teaser - http://screencast.com/t/e3LG4fJBlaJr

Thanks for following up... we look forward to offering a very powerful solution for you and your client very very soon.

    Hey Kevin...

We are aiming for internal QA to start on the first phase of the PDF Upload & Drag & drop by the end of July. There will likely be some back and forth between our QA department and the development team for a couple weeks... so as soon as everything is approved by QA we will likely start a small scale beta (reaching out to users on this list that are current customers) and will officially release it after a month or so of beta (if everything goes well).

This is a huge rewrite for us... we decided to rewrite the entire plugin/platform from the ground up... so we'll be rolling this out in three phases.

Hey thanks Josh for your great feedback! One of the exciting aspects of this highly anticipated release is that the entire document creation process will take place outside of your theme and also outside of your Wordpress dashboard... it will take place using our custom dashboard. Because of this there should be little if any plugin conflicts :-)

We have a solid team working around the clock (literally 3 different time zones) to get the first phase of this project into beta as fast as possible.

Making lots and lots of progress but we have not yet announced a release date.

    I'll keep you posted!

    Hi April,

The good news here is that...

We recently added yet again, another developer to help exclusively with this task. So now, we have a small (active) team whose ENTIRE focus is literally on knocking this feature out of the park.

Progress update: The core code and functionality/proof of concept is working. Now it's a matter of building out the interface (which has already been designed), adding conditional logic, debugging and fine tuning the flow so that it is absolutely intuitive. From what I've seen I can assure you that the wait will be worth it. :-)

We'll definitely keep you posted... and will have a more accurate idea of where we stand (timeline wise) by next month.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out! We’re thrilled to hear from you.

I noticed your recent inquiry about our PDF Upload/Drag and Drop feature.

I can hardly wait to get this feature done myself… it’s been one of the most request features of all 2015. And it’s for that reason that it is our top #1 focus.

Our development team is working around the clock (literally) to get this feature ready for beta. Since it’s a new feature (that’s essentially a brand new plugin with a completely different user interface) it has taken longer than I’d personally like for it to. It’s really difficult to assign an official date on it but based on the progress I’d say we’re only a couple months or so away from at the very least a beta version.

It’s looking really great though! I can’t wait to share it with our customers.

    Sincerely,

    Kevin at ApproveMe

Everyone here at ApproveMe is also chomping at the bit to get this feature out! The good news is that the team has already started production on this feature (a few months back) and things are moving right along. The PDF component has multiple moving parts and solicits the input from multiple advisors and developers... It's looking like after the holidays we should be well positioned for a beta release.

Hi Kevin, I agree with you 100%. Being a self-hosted WordPress plugin we had a few more security concerns and hurtles than most SaaS/cloud based web apps. We have invested heavily (prior to development) into the best and most secure way to introduce PDF option in a way that protects the signers from being a victim of file tampering. The good news is that after MUCH TIME we recently finished ironing out these concerns and have started the development of this new feature. Being such a large feature it will take a few months to complete and properly test. If you do need a refund in the meantime feel free to let our support department know. We're glad you gave our current version a shot and hope to see you again as soon as this feature is live. We'll be sending out a major email announcement (and possibly a party) once this feature is live. :-) Thanks again for your feedback.

    APPROVEME UPDATE:
We have spent majority of 2015 adding crucial core functionality, building out our API, developing add-on integrations, security fallbacks and updates and stabilizing the add-on updater system.

All of these items have been a required predecessor to the "PDF Upload Drag and Drop" feature.

We have only a couple more internal improvements we'd like to make to the user management system before we believe the plugin is ready to take on such a large new document type/flow.

From day one we've been planning on adding this feature... it's not a matter of "if" but "when" and we as a team feel that we are now 95% ready to "start going down this road." We will update you again as the development commences.

    Hey Nate!

Thanks for taking the time to hit reply! We value your input and feedback.

As far as a timeline goes for the PDF add-on... we're currently in the process of completely redesigning the dashboard (making it more user friendly and more like a document signing application than a basic Wordpress plugin).

After we release this update, our team will focus 100% on the PDF add-on.

Though it's challenging to estimate software development, I would (roughly) estimate that we will publicly release it somewhere in the end of Q2 or somewhere in Q3 of this year.

Re: Security we have multiple security fallbacks and authentication methods that in many ways are more secure than a PDF that would be stored on a server.

Here's a breakdown of a few of the security fallbacks:

If you have any additional questions feel free to add a comment or email me at kevin@approveme.me, I'm happy to help!

    Hi Luis,

We're sorry to hear you feel that way. We have one more major release (more intuitive user interface/experience) which will actually pave the way for us to build out the PDF upload/drag and drop add-on.

I assure you creating the PDF upload feature is as much of a priority for us as it is for you. :)

In the meantime have you checked into converting PDF's into plain text documents using a free service like:

Hi Valerie great question! The prototype is mostly working... however there's still a few more screens that our customers will likely need 2.0 to have before we open it up to beta.

Our goal as a company is to start internal beta (within the company) by or around the holidays. And then to open it up to a "few" groups of customers at a time in early 2017... until we officially launch it.

If you don't mind me asking what's the main feature that's holding you up? PDF upload/drag and drop?

I can add you to our customers/early beta list if you shoot me an email requesting to be added to: curious@approveme.com

Thanks Chris… we’re heavily considering and preparing our 2.0 with a user friendly API in mind. While I don’t yet have a release date it’s looking more and more like we’ll be able to start beta for the first phase of 2.0 sometime shortly after the holidays. The API will likely follow after the 2.0 release.

Hey Lauren… great suggestion… we actually have this feature built out/slated for our 2.0 release. It’s already in development. While I don’t yet have a release date for you I can tell you the team is working full-steam ahead (and has been for quite sometime) on 2.0. I personally would LOVE to start internal beta sometime around (or shortly after) the holidays but it really depends on how soon QA can approve the work. Thanks for the feedback and great suggestion. – Kevin

Thanks Mark... Long term it's definitely something we plan on improving and expanding on significantly... Gravity Flow is a fantastic way to speed up the process (with similar results connecting into our api) in the interim and they focus more on advanced workflows especially as they pertain to input fields and data. Taking our input fields to the next level is for sure on the horizon.... but in the meantime we want to do one thing really REALLY well... before we expand other feature sets. For now our main focus is on building out the most easy to use, stable, front-end powered document signing application with PDF upload/drag and drop support that "happens" to be powered by WordPress. :-) Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks Mark this is great feedback... while we will be completely overhauling our input field features in our 2.0 front-end version... we have started preparing an integration with gravityflow.io and hope to have something available with them (that would definitely help you achieve your end result) in the coming weeks/month.

Hey Carly, Thank you so much for taking the time to give this fantastic suggestion. Having recently created a long(er) document/contract myself I couldn't agree with you more. Our next "major" focus as a company is on PDF UPload and Front-end UX/UI which means we will be rewriting (from the ground up) the contract creation process. I've seen some new mockups and it looks like (based on the new designs) that this feature "should" naturally resolve itself in our 2.0 version which will be significantly more user friendly... this roll out is still many months down the line but I wanted to let you know it's a fantastic idea and you can expect to see a major improvement in this area in the future. Hope you have a great day. And thank you for being our customer. :-) - The ApproveMe Team

    Hi David,

You can definitely do this using our Stand Alone Document add-on (www.approveme.me/stand-alone-test/). Since the Stand Alone Document is hosted on a WordPress page you could essentially create a gate in wordpress or password protection in wordpress and provide a password to them if they are approved... etc.

You could even only allow access to the page to specific WordPress members (i.e. subscribers, contributors, etc).

    Hope that helps!

This is a fascinating idea. One that could be fairly simple to integrate (though we'd need to confirm with our development team). So if I understand you correctly... you're wanting the ability to embed a video URL (or image) on the document success page (or rather the page a signer sees when they successfully sign your agreement)?

If you can please further explain... thanks!

Hi Rex. Are you referring to the checkout process when purchasing the WP eSignature plugin on approveme.me? Thanks!

We are currently reworking our entire audit trail to include signer ids, barcode security, etc. While it would be nice to remove the audit trail this is one of the MANY features that substantiate the legality of contracts (when under review in a courtroom).

The signer audit trail is 100% required and one of the many features that makes our document signing process UETA/ESIGN compliant. We have been in the process of minimizing branding and redesigning the audit trail... However with the Upload Logo & Branding Add-on users can also upload their logos, cover pages, etc. to any document.

Thanks Phil! We have a Mailchimp add-on planned (in our trello list of planned extensions). I'll be sure to add one vote to it there. :)

Hey Amber this is a fantastic idea. I can definitely see the value in adding more proposal add-on integrations such as Bidsketch and Proposify. I have changed the status again to planned and will bring this up with the team again.

Note: We are currently in the middle of a 2.0 rewrite (which is exciting because it is preparing the plugin for our PDF Upload & Front-End Dashboard experience). We will need these two components to first be completed before completing these newer integrations since the 2.0 version will have a slightly different engine than our current version.

Love the idea though! And will definitely keep you posted.

    Regards,

    Kevin at ApproveMe
